This shouldn’t come as a shock for those that have purchased a tray of the hot and greasy treats. Cheese curds are a staple at any Wisconsin fair or festival, but they can pack a punch with as much as 38 to 40 grams of fat per serving.
“Foods that taste the best certainly are not always the best for us,” said Lisa Behrens, registered dietitian and certified diabetes educator at the Affinity Medical Group’s Diabetes, Nutrition & Endocrine Center. “There is no doubt that some of the most sinful foods are high in fat. Fat enhances flavor. The key is moderation.”
At least we’re getting our daily requirements of calcium fulfilled.
