I rolled into Columbus High School Saturday afternoon for the start of the SAGBRAW ride. This year’s ride, in its 33rd year, starts at Columbus and loops over to Lake Michigan, over to Appleton and back down to Columbus. The towns we will be overnighting in are Colmbus, Waupun, Plymouth, Mishicot, Appleton, and Green Lake. Saturday isn’t a riding day, its more about checking in getting oriented and meeting up with old friends of past rides. After the business was finished, we headed out to the Mullins Short Stop Drive in for dinner.
Mullins Short Stop is an actual drive in restaurant, complete with car hops, burgers, root beer, and window trays. We rode our bikes, so the window tray just sat on a picnic table. Burgers are a hefty 1/2 lb of hand formed beef patty. Fries have a beer batter coating on them and the root beer is cold and good. The deluxe cheeseburger is definitely the route to go, but also have some great hot dogs on the menu. Mullins Short Stop Drive In is located on Luddington Street in Columbus, just past the Amtrak station.
